Please join us on Friday, November 9 (3:10 – 4:35 pm) in Crosby Ballroom C for a performance by and conversation with Iranian-American poet, playwright, and librettist Sholeh Wolpé.
Writer-In-Residence at UC Irvine and poetry editor at The Markaz Review, Wolpé’s most recent book is Abacus of Loss: A Memoir in Verse. Her translations of 12th-century Sufi mystic poet Attar, The Conference of the Birds, and of 20th-century Iranian poet Forugh Farrokhzad, Sin: Selected Poems of Forugh Farrokhzad, are widely celebrated. Wolpé will discuss the multitude of her crafts (poetry, translation, play and libretto-writing) as well the interdisciplinary and cross-cultural nature of her work.
