PAMLA Welcome Event: Send in the Clowns
When: Thursday, Nov. 14, 1:00 PM – 2:10 PM
Where: Pacific D Ballroom
This fascinating “PAMLA Welcome Event: Send in the Clowns” is the opening event of the 2019 PAMLA conference, so do not miss it! Our welcome event presenters will speak on the PAMLA 2019 special theme, “Send in the Clowns.” Pulitzer Prize winning poet Rae Armantrout will read recent poems and discuss the topic of folly, apprehension and misapprehension, how we are fooled, and how we fool ourselves. Suzanne Lummis, one of the avatars of “Stand-Up Poetry,” a Los Angeles-based movement of the 1980s, will read from her poetry and discuss humor and politics in contemporary poetry. And AJ Knox, Artistic Director of Carlsbad Playreaders and sometimes clown, will speak about clowning in theater, and elsewhere. All are welcome to this free event, so sign up today at our Registration and Membership page at https://pamla.ballastacademic.com!
