“Post-Family Studies”
We are interested in papers that rethink the family in new ways, or explore new familial, para-familial, or post-familial structures, possibly by denaturalizing, deconstructing, de-idealizing, or reconceiving the family. Papers that explore new, transformational, or transnormative “families,” or post-familial or post-kinship family-like relations in literature, film, or culture are welcome. Papers might explore the effects of ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, region, ideology, history, or nation on the family and its depiction; the formation or deconstruction of familial ideologies; family mythologizing; shifting depictions of the family; or reconceptualizing the family in a post-Victorian, post-Freudian, post-Modern, post-Colonial, post-heteronormative, or anti-bourgeois manner. –Special Issue Editors, Dr. Steven Gould Axelrod and Dr. Craig Svonkin
