In recognition of the loss of a number of cherished PAMLA colleagues in German Studies on the West Coast, the Pacific Ancient and Modern Language Association established the German Studies Grant to assist graduate students doing work in German. You may make a contribution so as to assist young scholars of German language, literature, and culture, while acknowledging the invaluable contributions of Gunter H. Hertling, Wolfgang Nehring, Jens Rieckmann, Thomas Saine, and Hans Wagener.
How to Apply?
Participants can apply for this award if they are a current graduate student (in an MA, MFA, or PhD program) confirmed as presenting at the 2022 PAMLA conference on a subject connected to Germanic studies. Past recipients have received between $300 and $500.
Applications are due by July 31 via the pamla.ballastacademic.com site (click on the Scholarships tab, and follow the directions from there). Awards will be announced by the end of August, but will not be awarded until after the conference itself.
How to Donate?
You may donate to the German Studies Grant through our online payment portal.
