PAMLA 2024 Film @Night

Please join writer, director Adam Graves on Thursday, November 7 from 6:50 to 7:50 pm in the Crosby Ballroom B for a screening and discussion of his short, award-winning fictional film ANUJA, the story of a bright 9-year-old girl who works with her older sister at a back-alley garment factory in Delhi, India. The film explores themes of child labor and child resilience, girls’ education and the bond between sisters. Light refreshments will be served.

Adam J. Graves, a philosopher-turned-filmmaker, holds a B.A. in South Asian studies and a Ph.D. in the philosophy of religion from the University of Pennsylvania. Author of The Phenomenology of Revelation, Adam is a professor of philosophy at MSU Denver, where he teaches film & philosophy, and directs Dphi, a center that explores the intersection of philosophy, film, literature, and the arts. His most recent film ANUJA (2024) won the Oscar-qualifying award for Best Live Action Film at the HollyShorts Film Festival in Los Angeles. https://www.anujathefilm.com/
