Thursday, November 7

PAMLA Welcome & Keynote Event: Join us for PAMLA’s official Opening Event (11:40 am– 1:00 pm, Crosby Ballroom B), featuring a poetry reading by Marilyn Chin, introduced by Carolyn Horsman.

Setting, Story, & the Visual: Artists’ Discussion (Hosted by the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art): Join us for a panel discussion on visual art and narrative (5:10 – 6:35 pm, Crosby Ballroom B).

Film @ Night – ANUJA: A Short Film About Childhood, Labor, and Resilience: Join us Thursday evening for a film screening of ANUJA, with writer and director Adam Graves (6:50 – 7:50 pm, Crosby Ballroom B).

Palm Springs VillageFest: After our Film @ Night event, why not head over to the festive open air market, Palm Springs VillageFest, in the heart of downtown Palm Springs on Palm Canyon Drive! The event ends at 10:00pm.

PAMLA Forum—Translation & Creativity: Friday’s first special theme event is a panel discussion on topics of translation, featuring Marilyn Chin, Johanna Drucker, and Sholeh Wolpé (Friday 11:45 am – 1:05 pm, Crosby Ballroom B).

Come to The Power of Language in Conceptual and Contemporary Art panel discussion, hosted by the Palm Springs Art Museum (1:25-2:55 pm, Crosby Ballroom B).

PAMLA Undergraduate Forum: Support undergraduate scholars as they present their scholarly work (10:00- 11:30 am, Salon B).

Honor George Haggerty’s Legacy, a panel dedicated to prominent queer and gothic scholar George Haggerty (11:45 am-1:00 pm, Royal III).

Get creative at the Calaca Art Workshop, from 1:15-2:40 pm in Crosby Ballroom A. Stop by to create your own calaca,a Días de Muertos skull intended to honored departed loved ones.

Relax and enjoy our Días de Muertos Art Tertulia and Celebration (featuring art by Xavier Cázares Cortéz and music by Porkboii) (4-5:15 pm, Crosby Ballroom A).

Honor the memory of Marjorie Perloff with our Commemorating Marjorie Perloff: Influence and Impact panel (5:30-7 pm, Salon B).

Sunday, November 10

Eat brunch with fellow PAMLA members and officers at the General Membership Meeting & Brunch (10:00–11:30 am, Crosby Ballroom B), at which new officers, award winners, and the site of the 2025 conference will be announced.

And finally, wind down with our closing event, ”La Poética del Lugar”: A Conversation with Three Local Artists at The Elemental (1:30–3:15 pm, The Elemental: A Contemporary Center for the Arts in Palm Springs).
