Gay, Lesbian, and Transgender Literature and Culture

Presiding Officer:
Ashley Kimura, San Francisco State University

This panel invites submissions which discuss intersectionality in literature, media, or culture pertaining to Gay, Lesbian, Transgender, and Queer representation. These submissions may consider the following questions: What does it mean to be queer? How is queer subjectivity and/or identity represented? What are the limits of LGBTIQA representation? When we see intersectionality represented, why may some identities be favored over others? How has queer theory been utilized to both improve and disadvantage queer bodies? This panel does not ask that you only answer these questions. Please feel free to submit papers that discuss any aspect of representation appropriate for the panel.
