115th Annual Conference - Honolulu, Hawaii
Friday, November 10 - Sunday, November 12, 2017

Food Studies

Presiding Officer:
Sarah Gordon, Utah State University

As a field, Food Studies challenges visible or invisible boundaries that previous scholarship maintains, investigating how the complicated relationship among national narratives, power entanglements, and historical and political registers is mediated imaginatively and institutionally. This approved session welcomes any proposals on food studies, but paper proposals employing food studies as an interdisciplinary approach to cross boundaries of literature, print culture, history, geography, or transnational circulations would be of particular interest, as would proposals that engage with the conference theme of "The Sense of Sight: Visuality, Visibility, and Ways of Seeing."
