Women in Literature

Presiding Officer:
Ashley Kimura, San Francisco State University

This panel welcomes paper proposals on any aspect of women in literature. Specifically, this panel will explore women's roles in literature; particularly, how women function in texts in relation to those around them. This can include how they participate in heteronormative societal structures, how they disavow them, or how they exude their own senses of autonomy and agency. Please consider the following: How are women represented in literature? Are their roles dictated by others? Do they find modes of resistance to patriarchal, societal implications? Are these modes of resistance inherently subversive?
