Novelistic California

As with its fictive namesake—the island setting of Montalvo’s 1508 novel Las Sergas de Esplandián—California owes as much to romance as reportage. We invite papers that address California as it emerges from fiction and historiography, including “novelistic” hybrids of the two forms.
