Drinking from the River of Mnemosyne: Memoire, Truth, and Rhetoric

Presiding Officer:
LauraAnne Carroll-Adler, University of Southern California

The memoir examines a life by borrowing techniques from fiction. It is often classified as "Creative Non-fiction,” a category unwilling to confront the divide between fiction and non-fiction. This session builds on associations with memory, art, and reflection to study the memoir, either through specific examples or through theoretical and historical studies of the genre.
