Special Election Results

We are pleased to announce the results of our recent special election. The newest member of the PAMLA Executive Committee is Jeremiah B.C. Axelrod, Adjunct Assistant Professor of American Studies, Cultural Studies, and History at Occidental College in California, and an active PAMLA member since 2003. So, congratulations to Jem, who is sure to bring an exciting new voice to our Executive Committee.

Paper Proposals for PAMLA 2009

The deadline has now passed for paper proposals for all sessions at the 2009 PAMLA Conference, to be held November 6-7 at San Francisco State University. This year we introduced a new Online Proposal Submission Form to aid us in organizing the conference program. If your paper has been accepted for a session, but you did not submit a proposal online, please contact webmaster@pamla.org for instructions on how to submit a late proposal. All proposals must be submitted online to be included in the conference program.

Extended Deadline Sessions

The deadline for paper proposals for most of this year’s PAMLA conference sessions has now passed, and so most sessions are now closed. Some specific sessions, however, have extended their proposal deadlines until April 13, 2009. The sessions with extended deadlines are:

Special Election for Vacant Executive Board Seat

PAMLA is currently conducting a special election for the empty Executive Committee seat created when Craig Svonkin took on the job of Executive Director. The PAMLA Nominating Committee has nominated two extremely qualified candidates. Members who are current on their dues should check their mailboxes for a message with candidate bios and a link to the online ballot. If you haven't received the email but believe you are eligible to vote, please contact the Executive Director at svonkin@netzero.com. Voting must be completed by April 10, 2009.

Deadline Extended for PAMLA 2009 Paper Proposals

The deadline for paper proposals for this year's PAMLA conference has been extended to March 30th for all sessions. We are extending the deadline in order to allow PAMLA members a bit more time to learn how to use the new online paper submission form (which is, we promise, quite easy to use). Here is the link to our Online Proposal Submission Form: http://pamla.org/2009/proposals.
