PAMLA 2017 Conference CFP: Chaminade University of Honolulu

Our CFP list of approved sessions and online paper proposal system are now open.

The 2017 PAMLA Conference is being held over the November 10-12 weekend, at the lovely Chaminade University of Honolulu, with complimentary bus transportation to and from our official PAMLA Conference hotel, the Ala Moana Resort.

Please click here for more information and to submit a paper proposal.

There are more than 130 approved sessions. You may submit to more than one session, but may only deliver one paper at the conference itself.

Please submit your paper proposals by May 21st.

You have until May 21 to propose a paper to one of over a hundred standing and special conference sessions. All of these sessions have been approved as long as they receive sufficient papers to make for a full session. Quite a few but not all of the sessions deal with our conference theme “The Sense of Sight: Visuality, Visibility, and Ways of Seeing.” Session topics vary from "Adaptation Studies" to "Travel and Literature," from "Representations of the Colonial Other in the Visual Arts" to "Memory and Migration in German-Language Literature and Film," with hundreds of other facsinating topics in between.

The 115th Annual Pacific Ancient and Modern Language Association Conference will be held on Friday November 10 through Sunday November 12, 2017 at the lovely Chaminade University of Honolulu, Hawaii, with special PAMLA hotel rooms available at athe Ala Moana hotel (a shuttle will provide transportation between the conference hotel and Chaminade University).

Some PAMLA members apply to more than one session to increase their odds of being accepted, but PAMLA rules only allow you to deliver one paper (and to chair one session) at the conference. So, if you do apply to two or three sessions, please let all the presiding officers know that you are also applying to other sessions. And should you be invited by one presiding officer to join her or his session, once you agree to join that session please be sure to let the other presiding officers you applied to know that you are unfortunately having to withdraw your proposal, as you've already agreed to join another session. Finally, please do not apply to too many different sessions--you are better off creating very strong proposals for just one or two sessions.

Should you have any questions about the 2017 PAMLA conference, feel free to email, call, or text PAMLA Executive Director Craig Svonkin: svonkin@netzero.com OR 626-354-7526.
