  1. Go to other folks’ sessions, and during the Q&A at the end, ask a real, thoughtful question or two (don’t make a speech disguised as a question). Doing so will be good for you, and good for the presenter and the entire session. Good listeners and thoughtful, polite questioners make a conference more successful.

2019 PAMLA Election Information

The time has come for our annual PAMLA elections for new officers of our Executive Committee. If you are current with your PAMLA membership, in the next few days you will receive an emailed ballot to vote for new officers. Your PAMLA Executive Committee is the body that makes major decisions regarding PAMLA on a day-to-day basis. They help to plan the association’s future so that we may continue to serve our members’ needs. We require your assistance in choosing the best officers possible.

2019 PAMLA Conference Presidential Address: “‘A Clown’s Nightmare of a Masquerade Ball’: John Kneubuhl’s The Moon and I”

Please join us for the 2019 PAMLA Presidential Address and Luncheon on Friday, November 15, beginning at 11:45 am. 2019 PAMLA President Dr. Stanley Orr will be delivering an address titled “‘A Clown’s Nightmare of a Masquerade Ball’: John Kneubuhl’s The Moon and I.” The Presidential Address Luncheon, which does involve an additional expense, is sure to be a highlight of the conference.

Please join us for a refreshing beverage (wine or beer), light snacks, and our brief PAMLA General Membership Meeting (Wine & Cheese Reception) on Saturday, November 16, at 4:45 pm, to be immediately followed by the exciting "Saturday PAMLA Forum: See You in the Funny Papers,” featuring two leading humor scholars, Dr. Laurence Grove (University of Glasgow) and Dr. Judith Yaross Lee (Ohio University).

Please join us for the 2019 PAMLA Plenary Address and Luncheon on Saturday, November 16, beginning at 11:45 am. Our Plenary speaker, Dr. Paul Alonso, will be delivering an address titled Clowns and Court Jesters as Political Communicators: Mexican Brozo and Other TV Satirists in the Americas.” The Plenary Address Luncheon, which does involve an additional expense, is sure to be a highlight of the conference.
