Local Hikes
Mount Rubidoux Trail and Memorial Park
Mount Rubidoux is the closest hike to downtown Riverside, and it offers beautiful views of the city from a paved 3-mile loop trail that reaches the cross at the summit. The elevation gain is 500 feet. It is a great hike for all experience levels.

Two Trees Trail
For a little more strenuous but still fairly short hike, try the 3-mile Two Trees Trail in Box Springs Park near UCR. The elevation gain is 1200 feet, so it’s a good idea to leave an hour and a half to two hours to complete the hike. Keep your eyes peeled for local wildlife like lizards, red-tailed hawks, and coyotes. Watch for rattlesnakes on the trail. For directions to the trailhead, see the following websites.

Sycamore Canyon Wilderness Park
Explore the 1,550 acres of preserved wilderness in Sycamore Canyon Wilderness Park. The park features a vast network of trails ideal for hiking, trail running, and mountain biking. Watch for rattlesnakes on the trail.

A free lesson at the beginning or intermediate level at 7:00 PM is included with admission to the Friday dance party. The social dancing features a range of ballroom styles, such as waltz, tango, salsa, rumba, and West Coast swing. Come on your own or bring a partner.

Riverside Art Museum
Built by the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) in 1929, this building was designed in the Mediterranean style by architect Julia Morgan. Morgan designed a number of YWCA buildings as well as William Randolph Hearst’s San Simeon. The Riverside Art Association purchased the building in 1966 for use as a museum. The RAM’s art collection focuses on pieces that address social issues.

Mission Inn Museum
This small museum is a fun stop if you’re visiting the Mission Inn and are interested in looking in more depth at its history. The museum offers 75-minute walking tours of the Mission Inn—reservations are recommended.

Sherman Indian Museum
Explore the history of the region through Native American art, photographs, and artifacts. The museum is open Tuesday through Thursday, but other hours are available by appointment. Revival buildings that comprised Sherman Institute, this structure was built as the Administration Building in 1901. The federal Indian school was named for James Schoolcraft Sherman, Chairman of Indian Affairs, U.S. House of Representatives, who promoted the act to fund the school’s construction.

Downtown Farmers Market
Saturdays between 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, you will find one of Riverside’s farmers markets downtown on Main Street between 5th Street and 6th Street.
Halloween Events
If you are coming in to Riverside with your children, there is great Trick-or-Treating in the nearby Wood Streets. We will also be hosting a Friday evening event open to all, with more information forthcoming. Riverside Halloween events will be announced soon.
